Meet the Designer – Part 2 of 2

POSTED ON May 9, 2018 - 5000 North Ocean

5000 North Ocean, Singer Island’s upcoming residence tower, is quickly gaining recognition for its inventive use of design. Melding both contemporary modern styles and natural designs, the residence tower hosts an aesthetic that is impossible to replicate anywhere else. 5000 North Ocean tapped into the talents of Bob Martin from The Decorators Unlimited. Using the colors of the sand, sea and sky as an inspiration, Bob Martin and his team created a design that is capturing attention across South Florida. As part two of our interview, Martin shares his insight on the design:

1. How has oceanfront condominium design changed over the past 10 years?

As the building designs have evolved and as Kolter has evolved, they put a great deal of emphasis on outdoor living spaces. Ample spaces, multiple balconies that are deep that can accommodate real furniture. The residences are fortunate to have both sunrise and sunset views and wide terraces on either side. All of the Master Bedrooms have oceanfront views, but some secondary bedrooms have oceanfront views and some have western views. The western views are in themselves spectacular, especially in the evening when you get Lake Worth and the city lights of West Palm Beach and the North Palm area. It’s quite pretty at night. The dual views daytime and nighttime are pretty breathtaking.

2. What aspects of the Master Suites are most memorable?

As far as master living, the residences have very large masters. Most of the masters, if not all have direct oceanfront views and very large closets. They have beautiful open and airy bathrooms with glass shower enclosures.

The water closet areas also have glass enclosures to make things feel more airy, clean and light and very elemental. The use of stone and glass in the cabinetry combine to make the bathrooms feel very architectural themselves. The guest bathrooms are very functional, open and clear. Again, with regard to the flow, they are not compartmentalized. At the core of our residential design, we really focused on how people live today. I think these homes allow people to entertain, yet live any way they want at 5000 North Ocean.

3. I know you also worked with the team on the amenity design. What should we expect to see?

In the lobby area, we were trying to complement and reinforce the clean lines of the architecture of the building. The lobby, as you come in, is very dramatic. Your eye focuses on a beautiful ceiling detail that we’ve designed to complement the wall details. The concierge and reception desk is straight ahead as you enter, so it’s easy to find and easy to greet people, but yet the lobby in the foreground is elegant and sumptuous. It bespeaks a fine 5-star way of living.

Off to the right-hand side of the lobby will be a large social room and gathering space exclusively for the use of the residents. There will be a bar area where there will be seating and TV area. Plenty of room for entertaining or receiving guests or having parties.

In the back along the ocean dune will be a relatively large gym and fitness area with all kinds of state-of-the-art equipment for people to train either themselves or bring a personal trainer to the site. They never have to leave the sanctuary of the building – it’s very nice.
